I know, I have been MIA for a while. So I figured I better come and do a quick update.
I posted about a month ago about how I had a random first time seizure and I had to get a MRI. Well, we finally got the MRI done, the Neurologist said that they needed to talk to me ASAP about some scarring I had on my brain. We made our appointment for the 4th of September. I went in and he said that I had scarring that is usually seen in people that are heavy smokers, people who suffer from migraines or sometimes in people with seizures.
Well, since I have never touched a cigarette a day in my life, I only had the one seizure (and they still aren't 100% that it was a seizure), and I was getting headaches before all of this happened, they are saying the scarring is from migraines. How scary is it that having migraines can scar your brain!!
They put my on medication that I have to take daily for migraines. I have only taken it maybe 3 times so we will see how it goes. I have to go back to the Neurologist in a month for a checkup and then I have to get yearly MRIs to make sure that the scarring is not getting worse.
Okay so part number 2:
Yesterday morning, I woke up at about 1:30 a.m. I hadn't even gone to bed until 1 a.m! But I woke up in horrible pain, it felt like someone had been stabbing my stomach and then it started to spread across the whole right side of my stomach, to my side and then to my back. I didn't want to wake my husband up because I thought that it might just be a cyst that was rupturing and I was hoping I could just tough it out for an hour and go back to bed.
After taking 3 baths to try to stop the pain and waiting over 3 hours, I finally woke up my Husband. He got dressed, helped me get dressed and off to the hospital we went. It was ridiculous I was in so much pain, I couldn't stand up alone, I couldn't even lift up my legs. I got to the ER and they took me right back, it turns out that going to the ER at 4:30 is a good time to go, its really empty!!
The Dr. decided to start pumping me full of meds, they actually said they were giving me the strongest narcotic that they have. I went into the cat-scan and in the middle of it ALL the pain came rushing back, when I got back to the room I was in tears! They gave me more meds and after that I was getting more meds every 30 minutes along with nausea meds, heartburn, and anti-inflammatory meds.
After seeing my cat-scan they said that I had 4 kidney stones, one was trying to pass but it was 4 mm so it was having a hard time getting out. They also said that there was another one that was 6 mm's and two more that were 4-5mm. The ER Dr. and the urologist decided to admit me to the hospital and to put me into surgery that day.
So I had surgery yesterday at 1p.m. They blasted them with a laser so it broke them up into smaller pieces and then they put a lovely stint in so that they can pass without scarring anything.
I swear when it rains it pours. I have never had any health problems and now within a month I have had 2 cat-scans, and 1 MRI.
Im just thankful that after all of this, I am feeling good. It could be so much worse. I have missed all of you and didn't want you to think I ran away :)
Have you ever had any kidney stones or do you deal with migraines?
